Lemual Yazzie – code talker

June 26, 2009 by paulpbeverly

After serving as missionaries in Africa for 35 years, we served for 20 years with the American Indians. We met many close friends whom Lemuel Yazzie is one. He has served as Pastor for many years. He also is a Navajo Code Talker with the U.S. Marines during World War II. We count it a privilege to know him & his family.

Dalel & SuZann Entertaining African visitors

Dalel & SuZann Entertaining African visitors

Over 100 African students came to their last goat roast in May where SuZann’s Uncle gave a great salvation message. He was suffering from cancer & God took him home soon after the event.

Dale & SuZann live on their ranch in Potwin, Kansas. Ministering to African students who are in the States studying at various colleges. They are iinvolved in planting an African church They do this through goat roasts, visiting & helping lonesome students who need encouragement when they are a long way from their home in Africa.

Baptist church where we attend & teach an Adult Sunday School class.

Baptist church where we attend & teach an Adult Sunday School class.

SOME OF OUR MINISTRIES HERE IN FLORIDA

Our ministry these days is playing the piano & keyboard at a local nursing home every Tuesday. I play for a church group from Groveland who come & sing for the residents, then I continue to play at different floors throughout the day. Christian songs & also old time favorites like “My Bonnnie”, “Old Susanna” & other favorites.
Teaching an adult S.S. class at this Baptist Church in Oakland is also a joy.
Our other important ministry is hekping our daughter, Cynthia, to teach their two children 3 days a week. They are delayed in their development and we are privileged to be near the Isbells and help as they learn Reading , Writing, Math, Science, Bible, Social Studies etc.  Blake is very good at Chess & putting together picture puzzels. they love to play games & are quick to learn everyday skills. Keeps Esther & I on ‘our toes’!
